The Greatest Gift of a Lighthouse
What is the greatest gift of a lighthouse?
Certainly light is one of the forefront gifts of a lighthouse, for its gleams are unconditionally bestowed upon peoples of all flags and creeds. Not a soul is denied its hope and counsel.
Strength is another. For a lighthouse exudes a sense of majesty that emanates from its strong foothold upon land or sea, to its lantern aloft where light holds sway like a diamond set in a velvet sky.

Yet the strength of a lighthouse is not relegated solely to its materiality. Though night be as thick as ink, a single beam of light is able to quell the dangers of darkness and dispel the fears of the mariner.
Traditionally, a lighthouse has granted those at sea a powerful “voice” to help guide them when visibility has been banished. A mighty fog horn has always been an invaluable offering when hearing is seeing.
History is another endowment from a lighthouse. From the unshakeable dedication of their keepers to the parade of formidable storms in time, there is nothing spineless about the stories of lighthouse yore.
However, the greatest gift of a lighthouse goes beyond their enduring protection and legacy. The sentinel’s finest offering to humankind is the gift of togetherness – a return home to family and friends.
