Shining in the Now
For light to be light, it must be present in the here and now. Its shine spends not a single moment dwelling in the past.
Should there be the slightest divergence along the razor-edge line between gleaming and eclipsed, light’s influence upon the sea vanishes straightaway.
Therefore, to guide and protect, a lighthouse beacon must be glowing in time unfolding, steadfast in its characteristic and perpetually bright.
So go forth strong and far, oh lighthouse beams. Not into the future to come, but into the now, where your hope and assurance may be needed this very instant.
